About the event

Join us for a town hall meeting to help shape the vision for a Green New Deal for Canada. Taking place on June 5 from 6-9pm at Okanagan coLab - Kelowna Coworking Space. Special thanks to OK coLab for generously providing the space.

This event is one of many Green New Deal town halls being held in communities across the country in May and June 2019. The conversation is being led from the ground up through town halls bringing together people from all walks of life to discuss our vision for a new economy -- one that cuts global warming pollution, sees the full implementation of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, the Right to Free Prior and Informed Consent, and the TRC recommendations, creates millions of green jobs, and makes sure no one gets left behind. The input from these town halls will be used to inform a vision for a Green New Deal for all.

This event is FREE, open to the public, and we welcome all view points, however, venue space is limited and registration is recommended - those who do not register and show-up to the event will be admitted if space is available.

What is the Green New Deal?

The Green New Deal is an ambitious plan for how we can eliminate poverty and create millions of jobs while tackling the biggest threat of our time: climate change. It involves massive public investment in clean energy, transit and climate adaptation work. But the vision is bigger than that: it’s about transforming our entire economy to be safer and more fair, and give everyone a better life. First proposed in the U.S., the Green New Deal is now spreading around the world.
